Hugh Milton Sanderson, a retired accountant and longtime D.C. resident, died Sept. 11 at Blue Ridge Health Care Center in Raleigh, N.C., from complications of a stroke suffered in 2003. He was 70.

Mr. Sanderson was an accountant with Whitfield Russell and Associates of Alexandria. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University and lived and worked in the District for 43 years.

He was a member of the Thruston Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution in Kentucky and Church of the Epiphany in the District.

He is survived by a sister, Laura Miller of Cary, N.C.
