An indoor pool with a retractable roof is just one of the lavish amenities in a custom-built estate in Potomac surrounded by gardens, walk-

ways and fountains.

The second home from the neighborhood entrance at Potomac Manor, the white all-brick house at 9913 Chapel Road sits far back from the street, allowing for a large front yard with a circular red-brick driveway centered by an island of greenery with a fountain.

The house is being offered at $3,795,000.

A white wrought-iron gate surrounds the property, which has eight video surveillance cameras.

Exotic bushes and trees line the front entrance, while two balconies, bay windows and an interesting roofline add curb appeal.

Through the hand-carved mahogany double doors is a welcoming, two-story foyer that hints at the sophisticated design found in all of the rooms. An arched entryway allows a glimpse into the family room straight ahead. Exquisite wood crown molding and a coffered ceiling draw your attention upward to the staircase and crystal chandelier.

Five fireplaces are spread throughout the three-story home — including one in the first-floor guest suite.

Inlaid marble flooring makes the foyer stand out as a formal reception area. Light hardwood floors gleam throughout most of the main-level rooms.

Impressive rooms flank the foyer. The formal living room has crown and picture-frame moldings, a plaster ceiling medallion with a designer chandelier. It also has low-voltage recessed lights and a bay window.

The owners call the second space the receiving room. Entry is through a set of decorative columns. The receiving room also has a bay window. It is has a wood-burning fireplace with a hand-carved mantel and marble surround.

More columns separate the receiving room from the dining room, which can accommodate at least 12. This banquet-sized room boasts extravagant moldings, plaster inlays and a crystal chandelier to match the two smaller chandeliers in the receiving room. The room has a custom built-in china cabinet with glass doors, a walk-in butler’s pantry and wet bar along with a pass-through to the kitchen.

The centrally located family room has a soaring ceiling with crystal chandeliers. The back wall comprises two-story arched windows and glass doors that open onto the balcony.

To add drama, a hand-carved stone mantel surrounds the marble fireplace with gas logs. Custom cabinetry and shelves line both sides of the fireplace, and a built-in entertainment center can easily accommodate a large-screen television.

Next to the family room is the kitchen. Ample cabinets with hand-carved moldings line the kitchen walls. The counters and backsplash are dark granite while the flooring is ceramic tile.

A large center island doubles as a breakfast bar and features a five-burner gas cooktop.

Additional appliances in the kitchen are from the Monogram brand and include a side-by-side refrigerator, two wall ovens and a dishwasher. There is also a Viking warming drawer and built-in security monitor.

An adjoining breakfast room boasts a furniture-quality custom built-in China cabinet and French doors to the concrete balcony.

Doors from the backyard balcony, as well as a separate hallway entrance, lead to the pool, which has a two-story enclosure. The enclosure, constructed of aluminum with a vaulted roof and surrounded by glass, is a unique architectural feature in the back yard. It has a retractable ceiling for open-air enjoyment.

Among the pool area’s amenities are a large whirlpool with a waterfall into the pool, heated granite pool decking and designer ceramic-tile walls. The pool area also has heating and air conditioning.

Overnight company will delight in the privacy and luxury in the guest suite that is accessed by a hallway off the foyer. A wood-burning fireplace with marble surround is the perfect place for a cozy sitting area. The vaulted ceiling and large windows make the guest suite more inviting.

In addition, the suite offers a sumptuous bathroom with imported marble flooring, a Jacuzzi tub and marble shower stall.

Both the main foyer stairs and a rear staircase lead to four bedrooms and a hallway with arches overlooking the family room. Double doors open to the master bedroom, which has hardwood floors, a tray ceiling and extensive crown molding. The highlight of the room is a balcony with views of the front garden.

The master bath is opulent. It has French doors with glass panels, granite counters and walls, a step-up marble Jacuzzi, seated steam shower and a bidet. Decorative features include a chandelier, wall sconces, faux painting and a tray ceiling.

The other three bedrooms have hardwood floors, and each has its own full bath. One of the rooms has three windows that overlook the back garden, and two of the baths have marble floors. A fifth room works well as a den or as an additional bedroom. This open room has two skylights and a walk-in closet.

Another stairway leads to the fourth floor, where a spacious carpeted room can be used as a recreation area. This room has crown molding, a skylight and access to the attic.

More space is found on the lower level, which is complete with a second family room, fully equipped kitchen, second laundry room, a bedroom and a bathroom.

Some of the highlights of the lower level include a brick floor-to-ceiling wood-burning fireplace with a granite hearth, built-in ceiling speakers, marble bathroom, and a kitchen with custom cabinets, granite counters and stainless steel appliances.

The pool bathroom on this level has limestone floors, a marble steam shower and separate marble steam room with glass walls. French doors in the basement open onto a covered patio with four arched entryways leading into the back yard.

The back yard is just as sophisticated as the interior, with its brick walkways, a gazebo for grilling, a fountain pond and waterfall.
