Lella Margrave, 94, registered nurse

Lella Lockie Margrave, former registered nurse, died March 14 at Inova Fairfax Hospital of heart failure. She was 94.

A native of Carterville, Ill., Mrs. Margrave graduated from Vanderbilt University in the early 1930s. She worked as a registered nurse for many years and, during World War II, she worked for the American Red Cross.

In 1941, Mrs. Margrave married the noted music critic Oliver Wendell Margrave. The couple moved to the District in 1944, and Mrs. Margrave lived in Fairfax city from 1957 until her death.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Margrave of Cornwall, N.Y., and Andrew Margrave of Fairfax; two sisters, Janice Kolsh of Lansing, Mich., and Georgina Hicks of Raleigh, N.C.; and three grandchildren. Her husband died in 1985.

A memorial service is scheduled for late June in Cornwall, N.Y.
