How did you get started in real estate? We had just moved here from a military assignment in Tehran, Iran. I had a master’s degree and more than seven years of teaching experience. At that time, Fairfax County was hiring more new teachers, but I wanted a job that didn’t involve a daily rush-hour commute and fell into real estate.

How long with the current company? I’ve been in the same office since 1979

License: Virginia real estate broker

Designations: Certified residential specialist; graduate, Realtor institute; seniors real estate specialist

Associations: Northern Virginia Association of Realtors, Virginia Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors

Awards: Life member, NVAR million dollar club; life member, NVAR top producers sales club; NVAR $10 million-plus club; Weichert chairman of the board elite club for sales in excess of $12 million; 2005 recipient, Weichert community service award

Greatest accomplishment in past 12 months: Getting Weichert agents involved and spearheading a $25,000-plus donation for wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center

Areas of specialty: Western Fairfax County, working with seniors

Most memorable house: The house my husband and I live in. I see a lot of homes but prefer the contemporary homes. Finding the perfect home on the perfect lot is not easy, but even after 17 years I still love the home I live in and am seldom tempted by any other home.

Worst experience: Nearly 20 years ago, good friends moved to Alaska and I listed their home. A licensed Realtor purchased the home and negotiated to move in a week later, although settlement wasn’t scheduled until at least a month later. Her earnest money check bounced and she had painted half of nearly every room in the house. We received zero assistance from her company regarding the money or her actions. Somehow, though, our friendship with the sellers remained intact.

Age: 57

Family: Married to husband, Paul

Pets: none

Education: Bachelor of arts in French, Albion (Mich.) College, 1971; master of arts in bilingual education, University of Northern Colorado (Greeley, Colo.), 1978

Community affiliations: Informal Air Force wives group; Northern Virginia Antiques and Arts Association; my husband and I volunteer to assist wounded soldiers and their families at Walter Reed.

Last book read: “The Other Boelyn Girl,” by Phillipa Gregory

Last movie seen: We never go to the movies

What kind of car do you drive? Lexus 475 SUV

What is your personal dream house? A contemporary home on the ski slope in Aspen.
