Sean Taylor escaped a one- or two-game suspension from the NFL yesterday when he was fined four game checks for pleading guilty to two misdemeanors 14 months ago in Miami.

Taylor reacted in his typical mature manner: He had no comment. He once again escapes serious trouble by only having to write a check. Pitiful.

The big question is whether Taylor will learn anything from this. That remains to be seen, but my short answer is yes. I expect him to stay out of big trouble. The way to get a professional athlete’s attention is hitting them in the money clip. And the NFL fined him $71,764 (four game checks). That should get No. 21’s attention.

Off to practice — the first of two today.
