According to one consumer electronics trade journalism source, yes …

Steve Smith, editor of TWICE, notes, “As we approach the final 11 days of the Holiday shopping season consumer electronics will be utmost on the minds of many consumers. As usual there has been a dip in store traffic in the past two weeks since Thanksgiving weekend. Even though Best Buy, Wal-Mart and other CE retailers, and manufacturers, are complaining that Black Friday promotions were too aggressive and cut into bottom lines more severely than normal, look for more CE bargains through Christmas Eve and beyond especially in all forms of HDTV. When it comes to Holiday shopping for CE products the consumer is always the winner. This time consumers will really win big.”

TWICE, for those who don’t know it, stands for “This Week In Consumer Electronics,” and is that industry’s gold standard for news. If Mr. Smith is predicting a bargain sweep, then it seems likely such may happen. Keep your eyes peeled — that, and a bit of luck, got me a great Sony LCD TV for about one-third less than Circuit City’s price, their discount included!
