Last night at Verizon Center:

630 Games played for Olie Kolzig, placing him third among goalies who have played their entire career for the same team. New Jersey’s Martin Brodeur (845) is first and the Rangers’ Mike Richter (666) is second.

What precisely has been wrong with Shaone Morrisonn? The Caps have been unusually secretive about what ails the defenseman and have backed off the original flu claim. Whether it is a virus or muscular ailment is unknown but he has missed four games. The team now says Morrisonn should practice today and be ready to play against the Devils in New Jersey tomorrow night, meaning he has recovered from whatever sidelined him.

Alex Ovechkin is on a pace to score 50 goals in his second season after scoring 52 in his first. He would be just the second Caps player (Dennis Maruk, 1980-81, 1981-82) to score 50 or more goals in back-to-back seasons and just the third player in NHL history (Mike Bossy and Joe Nieuwendyk) to have 50 in his first two seasons.
