About a dozen children riding on a school bus were bumped around but not seriously injured after the bus crashed with a dump truck in Montgomery County this morning.

The accident happened after 8 a.m. on Veirs Mill Road in the Wheaton Woods/Aspen Hills area.

Pete Piringer, spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said the accident doesn’t appear to have happened at high speeds.

Four of the children were taken by ambulance to Suburban Hospital with minor injuries.

Mr. Piringer also said that other buses with medical personnel are being sent to the scene and that the remaining children will be taken to a hospital for precautionary evaluations.

The driver of the dump truck was taken to the hospital with chest pains.

There was no word on what caused the accident.
