ABC changes slate

ABC is retooling its Wednesday prime time lineup with the premiere of two midseason comedies and a time-shift for one of its keystone dramas, reports TVWeek.com.

The network will debut “The Knights of Prosperity” (originally titled “Let’s Rob …”) at 9 p.m. and “In Case of Emergency” at 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 3. That means the hourlong “Lost,” usually seen at 9 p.m., will slide into a new Wednesday time slot at 10 p.m. when it returns Feb. 7.

“Knights,” which was pushed from the fall lineup, centers on a gang of modern-day Robin Hoods, and “Emergency” follows four former high school friends who find themselves under the care of the same doctor.

Life’s start explored

Following last year’s critically acclaimed special, “In the Womb,” cable’s National Geographic Channel will air “In the Womb: Animals” — a two-hour look inside the hidden world of animal pregnancy — Sunday evening at 8.

The new special features state-of-the art visual effects, computer graphics and real-time, moving 4-D ultrasound imagery to take viewers inside the unique world of animal fetal development. The pictures will shed light on the vast differences in the ways an elephant, a dolphin and a dog develop in the womb.

Holiday watch

It’s a big night for Frosty on prime time this evening, with the snowman turning up in not one but two specials.

CBS has “Frosty the Snowman,” at 9. Jimmy Durante provides the narration as jolly soul Frosty (voice by Jackie Vernon) takes center stage in this 1969 animated fantasy.

“Frosty Returns” (1992) follows at 9:30. This time, John Goodman does the voice honors as Frosty, and Jonathan Winters narrates the snowman’s further adventures.

Elsewhere, there’s “The Polar Express” (8 p.m. on cable’s ABC Family), the animated version of Chris Van Allsburg’s story about a boy who takes the train ride of a lifetime. Tom Hanks voices the conductor and several other roles.

On tap for tomorrow: Fred Savage, Fred Willard and Gladys Knight are among the celebs lending their voices to “Holidaze: The Christmas That Almost Didn’t Happen” at 8 p.m. on ABC. The story centers on Rusty Reindeer, who’s on an identity hunt. To make matters worse, Santa’s “Nice ‘N Naughty O’Matic” is down, imperiling his annual giveaway.

Wonder who will be guiding the sleigh?
