Last night at Robins Center in Richmond

14Consecutive victories for George Washington, tying the longest streak in program history, set in 1935-36. The Colonials also have the longest winning streak in the nation. The Colonials (22-1) are undefeated in 2006. Their only loss came at N.C. State on Dec.30.

“Number seven.”

— The chant several hundred yellow T-shirt-clad GW students in the rafters serenaded their team with before the game.

The Robins Center looked as if it were having power problems, but apparently it wasn’t. The shot clocks were not functioning on top of the backboards, so they were on the floor in the corners. The upper reaches of the arena were also dark, but supposedly that was by design. One local reporter described it as the “opera effect.”
