Last night at MCI Center


16,050 Fans in attendance for the game against the Carolina Hurricanes. Earlier in the day in the same arena, a crowd of 20,035 watched Georgetown upset No.1 Duke in men’s college basketball.


Carolina goalie Martin Gerber was born in Switzerland and has a fan club made up mostly of Swiss citizens. About 30 of them attended the game, including a few Vatican guards.


The wing’s first of two assists moved him into sole possession of third place on the all-time Caps rookie points list with 61. Bob Carpenter and Chris Valentine each had 67 points as rookies in 1981-82.
