How did you get started in real estate? I was at a Georgetown University homecoming football game two years after I graduated. There, I ran into my former real estate professor, Rory Coakley, who had just started his own real estate firm. After spending a few hours tailgating together, he asked me to join with him and build the company.

How long with the current company? Since 1993

Licenses and designations: Real estate sales in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia; qualified expert witness in Montgomery and Prince George’s county courts

Awards: Ranked in the top 1 percent of all Realtors nationwide

Greatest accomplishments in the past 12 months: Balancing the demands of work and family life; carrying out a second term as president of the board of directors for Stepping Stones Shelter for homeless families in Montgomery County

What is your area of specialty? Rockville

Most memorable house: The old Woodfield Estate in Damascus on Ridge Road was a storybook five-bedroom, four-bath 1920 classic on a prominent lot just steps from Main Street. It is a one-of-a-kind treasure with curb appeal and an old-fashioned wraparound front porch and white picket fence. A stunning restoration of this Victorian home with careful attention to original architecture and period detail made this gem the toast of the neighborhood.

Worst experience: The best and worst experiences were with the same couple. It started in spring 2001 and ended in spring 2002. After at least 14 competing contract situations, and spending almost every weekend together, we finally won a contract. In addition to watching their newborn son grow up in front of me, I enjoyed having our families become very close, and to this day, we remain friends.

Age: 36

Family: Wife, Patricia; daughters Katie, Caleigh and Maggie

Education: Bachelor of arts in economics, Georgetown University, 1991; master of business administration in real estate and urban development, American University, 1997

Community service/outside interests: President of board of directors, Stepping Stones Shelter; member, Rockville Chamber of Commerce; volunteer, Community Ministries of Rockville; golf; sports

Last book read: “Goodnight Moon,” by Margaret Wise Brown (read to daughters)

Last movie seen: “In Her Shoes”

What kind of car do you drive? 2004 Lexus 430 sedan

What is your personal dream house? Four walls and a roof, on a golf course somewhere warm near a beach, with enough rooms for my entire family and all of my friends to visit anytime they wish.
