Last night at Comcast Center

Record for Maryland in nonconference home games this season. The Terps improved to 116-2 in nonconference home games under coach Gary Williams.

“Will’s got a good touch, as he’ll remind me [today]. Was that a 3? Did they give him a 3? I told the referee his foot was on the line so he wouldn’t think he would make a 3.”

— Maryland coach Gary Williams, joking about center Will Bowers’ 3-pointer in the second half. When asked about smiling after Bowers made the shot, Williams deadpanned, “My job just got tougher.”

Point guard D.J. Strawberry put an exclamation mark on the first half with a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Maryland called a timeout with 2.9 seconds left before making an inbounds pass to Strawberry. He drove along the right sideline and made an awkward shot from the wing as the horn sounded to give the Terps a 48-30 lead at the break.
