Through Oct. 14: “The Civil War in Maryland: Rare Photographs From the Collection of the Maryland Historical Society and Its Members,” the largest collection of Civil War Maryland photographs ever displayed. Open Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the H. Furlong Baldwin Library of the Maryland Historical Society, 201 W. Monument St., Baltimore. Today and tomorrow: The Prince William County Historic Preservation Division hosts “Aftermath of Battle” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Ben Lomond Historic Site, 10321 Sudley Manor Drive, Manassas. Admission is $5 per person and includes candlelight tours tonight at 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30. The event includes a field hospital, infantry drill and firing demonstrations as well as a weapons exhibit. Saturdays through July: “Fighting and Frolicking: The Civil War Comes to Morven Park” features historical interpreters portraying Civil War soldiers who lived at Morven Park in the winter of 1861-62. The program begins at 1 p.m. The park is at 17263 Southern Planter Lane in Leesburg. Reservations required no later than 3 p.m. Fridays. Admission: $5 adults, $1 children 6 to 12, under 6 free. Information and reservations: 703/777-6034 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

July 29: The Friends of Ball’s Bluff and Edwards Ferry will meet at 2 p.m. at Thomas Balch Library, 208 W. Market Street, Leesburg. This is a new preservation and education group; new members are welcome. Information: Bill Wilkin at 703/729-6349.
