The cynicism of the British tabloids is puzzling.

France beat Spain 3-1, and all the Brits can ask the French coach about is French striker Thierry Henry’s overreaction to a tackle. The call led to a free kick for France and the go-ahead goal.

Forget the brilliance of Patrick Vieira’s header from Zinedine Zidane’s free kick that won the game.

“If that’s all you are taking from the game, then I feel sorry for you,” French coach Raymond Domenech said.

Me too.
