Last night at Philips Arena in Atlanta

BY THE NUMBERS

1 Southeast Division game the Capitals have won away from home this season. Washington beat Atlanta 6-5 in a shootout here Dec. 22.

KEY PLAYER

Marian Hossa scored 1:49 into overtime to give the Thrashers the victory.

PLAY OF THE GAME

Alex Ovechkin tied a couple of things with 26 seconds left in regulation. He sent the game to overtime with his 39th goal, which tied the Thrashers’ Ilya Kovalchuk for second in the NHL. Kovalchuk scored earlier in the third period to give Atlanta the lead.
