Last night at Verizon Center:

2 Teams out of the 24 the Capitals have faced that Alex Ovechkin has failed to score against this season. The rookie finished with two goals and an assist against the Islanders to leave the Kings and Sharks as the only teams to hold him without a goal.

Left wing Jeff Friesen had a goal and an assist to give him 500 points in his career.

With time running out in the second period, rookie defenseman Mike Green passed blindly to Alex Ovechkin in the left circle, enabling the wing to score to give the Caps a two-goal lead.
