While many developments market their communities as having resort-style amenities, this can sometimes mean a swimming pool available only in the summer and a tennis court or two. Those recreational amenities are pleasant enough, but they cannot match the amenities available to homeowners at the Residences at Bulle Rock near Havre de Grace, Md.

At Bulle Rock, residents can live and play on a Pete Dye-designed public golf course that has been twice honored by Golf Digest Magazine as one of only 12 five-star facilities in the nation.

Bulle Rock also offers spectacular views of the Chesapeake Bay and the Susquehanna River. A two-story, 39,000-square-foot community center includes a day spa with professional massage, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a fully equipped cardiovascular center and tennis courts.

Within the community are trails and an on-site retail center. Planned amenities include a residents-only marina and yacht club, a luxury inn and a bed-and-breakfast.

Havre de Grace provides local charm, plenty of shops and restaurants.

Manekin LLC, Clark Turner Cos. and H&S; Properties Development Corp. have teamed to develop the Residences at Bulle Rock. The welcome center has been placed in a restored brick Georgian-style mansion on the site of Mount Pleasant, a 17th-century manor house. From the welcome center, visitors can enjoy a 180-degree view of the Chesapeake Bay and Susquehanna River.
