Comely vegans

Prince has been voted the “world’s sexiest vegetarian” in PETA’s annual online poll, the animal rights group announced Monday.

The pop star, 47, shares the honor with Kristen Bell, the 25-year-old star of “Veronica Mars,” which is being carried over from UPN to the new CW Network this fall, Associated Press reports.

Runners-up in the poll — which, according to PETA, netted more than 40,000 votes — include Natalie Portman, Nicollette Sheridan and Joaquin Phoenix.

A strict vegan, Prince recently wrote in the liner notes of his latest album, “3121,” about the ills behind wool production. He closed the disc with a quote from Mahatma Gandhi: “The life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being.”

Last year, Coldplay singer Chris Martin and 2005 “American Idol” winner Carrie Underwood were picked as the two sexiest vegetarians. Other previous winners include Andre 3000 of the rap group OutKast, Tobey Maguire, Josh Hartnett, Alicia Silverstone, supermodel Lauren Bush and Shania Twain.

Back in the pokey

Michelle Rodriguez is heading back to jail after being sentenced to serve 60 days in prison for violating her probation, the Internet Movie Database reports.

Miss Rodriguez, a co-star on the ABC drama “Lost,” was arrested in December on suspicion of drunken driving in Honolulu. The arrest came six months after she pleaded no contest in Los Angeles to a hit and run, drunken driving and driving with a suspended license and was placed on probation.

According to the celebrity news Web site TMZ.com, the Hawaiian incident violated her California probation. On Monday, Judge Rex Heeseman sentenced Miss Rodriguez in a Los Angeles courtroom to serve 60 days in jail and read off a list of other sanctions. The actress also was ordered to complete a 30-day alcohol rehabilitation program and perform 30 days of community service, including participating in programs run by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Miss Rodriguez also had her probation extended for three more years, to June 2009, IMDB.com reports. She and her attorneys left without making a comment, and the judge did not disclose the starting date of her new jail sentence.

Miss Rodriguez pleaded guilty last month to the Hawaiian drunken driving charge and chose five days’ jail time instead of performing 240 hours of community service

Sins of the father

Larry Williams, the father of actress Michelle Williams, was granted bail yesterday by a Sydney court after being arrested on international tax evasion charges, AP reports.

Australian Federal Police, responding to a request from U.S. authorities, arrested the prominent stock-market trader Saturday after he flew into Sydney to begin a monthlong speaking tour in Australia and New Zealand. The U.S. Internal Revenue Service has been seeking the 64-year-old Virgin Islands resident over claims that he evaded paying $1.5 million in taxes on royalties from his books on the stock market and proceeds from international seminars between 1990 and 2001.

His daughter, 25, was nominated for a best-supporting-actress Oscar for her role in 2005’s “Brokeback Mountain.”

Mr. Williams was freed on $753,000 bail and ordered to surrender his passport and report to police three times a day. He is due back in Central Local Court on Monday.
