The popular Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Hanover, Md., near Baltimore, will hold an Introduction to Fishing seminar today at 2 p.m. for children. Jelani Hennessy, 14, an enthusiastic fisherman who has won a number of awards and youth fishing tournaments, will be the guest instructor.

Hennessy, who hopes one day to become a professional bass angler, has his own Web site, www.bassfishing4kids.com, that among other things promotes good citizenship, environmental stewardship and family values.

Dads and moms, if you can make it, visit the store’s fishing department and let your youngsters handle various types of fishing gear, learn about fishing lures, knot-tying and fishing techniques. Hennessy will demonstrate how to use lures in a 28,000-gallon fish tank. The seminar is free.

Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World is located at Arundel Mills, off I-97, Route 100, Exit 10.
