SEEN AND HEARD

Defenseman John Erskine was recalled from Hershey on Wednesday, the Caps said yesterday. Erskine replaced Jamie Heward in the lineup. Heward sustained a gash on his left arm in the game against Ottawa and the medical staff opted to sit him instead of taking the chance of infection. The team placed right wing Richard Zednik on injured reserve to make room for Erskine.
