Former Maryland kicker Nick Novak is the Washington Redskins’ new kicker, pending a physical.

Novak competed with other kickers today at Redskin Park. The Redskins have not announced their intentions for veteran kicker John Hall, who could be placed on injured reserve or released to make room for Novak on the roster.

Novak’s agent, Rich De Luca, confirmed Novak will sign with the Redskins today.

Novak, 25, played five games for the Redskins last year in place of Hall and made five of seven field goals, including the overtime winner against Seattle in the regular season. He finished the season with Arizona, hitting all three of his field goal attempts.

At Maryland, Novak was a first-team all-ACC selection as a senior. He finished his college career as the conference’s leading scorer with 393 points, which included hitting 80 of 107 field goal attempts.
