Montgomery County Fire and Rescue units are working to rescue a trapped construction worker after a trench collapsed this morning.

Around 9:10 a.m., units were called when the trench collapsed on plumbing workers at 738 Beall Ave. in Rockville.

One 40-year-old man is buried almost up to his waist in a hole five to seven feet deep, several feet wide and 10-15 feet long, according to department spokesperson Pete Piringer.

Forty-five to 50 rescue personnel are on the scene, including teams of collapse rescue and trench rescue units.

The worker is in stable condition, and paramedics are monitoring his vitals.
