The Washington Times incorrectly stated in a graphic yesterday how much the federal government spends on food-stamp benefits. The federal government issued $21.1 billion in food stamps in 1993, $19.6 billion in 1996 to 1998, $16.1 billion in 1999 to 2002 and $23.2 billion in 2002 to 2005.
