NFL writer David Elfin of The Washington Times ranks the teams (Last week’s ranking in parentheses):

1. Bears (1) — It’s like 1985: unbeaten Bears favored by 16.

2. Colts (2) — Redskins learned it’s not smart to smack Peyton around.

3. Patriots (4) — Only AFC team in top 10 in scoring, scoring D.

4. Saints (5) — No. 7 offense gets serious test from Ravens’ defense.

5. Falcons (7) — Vick’s 10-3-1 vs. AFC heading to Cincinnati.

6. Broncos (12) — Stingiest D will be tested by P. Manning and Co.

7. Giants (14) — Pounding ‘Boys in Big D was gigantic.

8. Chargers (3) — 0-2 in games decided by 10 or less, Marty.

9. Eagles (6) — Can’t let game go down to last-second FG again.

10. Vikings (17) — Hurt Hasselbeck, wounded Hawks.

11. Ravens (10) — It’s all on you now, Coach Billick.

12. Panthers (9) — Going to lose some when it’s nailbiter every week.

13. Cowboys (8) — How will team respond to kid QB Romo?

14. Bengals (18) — Kaesviharn’s end zone pick might have saved season.

15. Steelers (15) — Roethlisberger’s luck certainly has turned.

16. Rams (16) — After Niners, Cards and Pack, Bolts are first tough road game.

17. Seahawks (13) — Facing K.C. minus Alexander, Hasselbeck. Ouch.

18. Bucs (19) — Can ex-Giants K Bryant break record vs. old team?

19. Chiefs (21) — Maybe blowout by Steelers was aberration after all.

20. Jets (20) — Mangini’s winning the ones that he’s supposed to.

21. Jaguars (11) — Blown out by Texans after two weeks to prepare. For shame.

22. Bills (22) — Need bye after being outscored 88-30 last 3 weeks.

23. Titans (24) — Young out to show Texans should’ve made him No. 1.

24. Texans (30) — That’s two out of three after 2-18 stretch.

25. Redskins (25) — What did everyone expect would happen at Indy?

26. Packers (31) — Cards should provide first home W.

27. 49ers (27) — Two weeks of preparation won’t help vs. Bears.

28. Lions (29) — Kitna can’t play defense.

29. Browns (28) — Hope Carthon took his offense with him.

30. Dolphins (26) — 3-7, 6-0, 1-6. At least Saban’s consistent.

31. Raiders (32) — So much for becoming the first 0-16 team.

32. Cardinals (23) — It’s the cellar when you lose to Oakland.
