When Glamour magazine’s Suze Yalof Schwartz goes shopping for her fall wardrobe, she will go with a well-edited list:

• A new purse, probably in tan, that can be worn on the shoulder or carried in her hands. She needs something big enough to carry her phone, wallet, notebook, makeup bag and picture of her children. The fall trends that attract her are quilted leathers, knits and chain details.

• A coat. “This is the best season for coats, and just one won’t do. The most important coats are vintage-inspired metallic brocades and swing coats with three-quarter sleeves meant to be worn with gloves — that look is incredibly modern.”

• Dresses. She already has added two shirtdresses to her wardrobe, but she says she wants seven, one for every day of the week.

• Boots. Here’s the toss-up — tan ones with a heel and a rounded toe to help elongate her frame or black suede platforms that are a fashion girl’s dream but considerably less practical. Either would go with all the dresses she plans to buy.

• A new pair of tan sling-back pumps. They go with everything, are flattering to everyone and transition nicely from summer to fall, she says.

• Chunky bracelets and funky earrings. She is partial to wooden cuffs or bangles for her wrist and blue or coral-colored dangling earrings.

• A leather jacket that’s tailored enough to wear to work but edgy enough to capture the motorcycle spirit.
