How did you get started in real estate? I started in this business by accident, by that I mean I had a head-on auto collision that caused a shoulder injury that meant that I could no longer perform basic motions needed to swing a hammer, paint a window, nail a shingle, raise a ladder well enough to stay in the home improvement business. After 14 years contracting for homeowners and a few general contractors and local business people, I decided to blend the knowledge of home construction with the process of selling homes. I really thought this would be an easy transition, but it proved that it was like anything else that is worth doing well: You have to put in your time and be devoted to the clients you serve.

How long with the current company? Since 1993

License and designation: Virginia real estate broker; certified residential specialist

Association: Prince William Association of Realtors (PWAR)

Awards: RE/MAX 100 percent club, executive club and president’s club; PWAR million dollar club

Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: Saving the equity in the home of a client that was on the way to foreclosure. It turns out we settled and saved the equity two days before the courthouse auction. That one took a lot out of me.

Area of specialty: Rippon Boulevard in Woodbridge

Highest-priced home sold: $1,275,000

Most memorable house: I built on speculation a one-level ranch with a two-car garage on a 1-acre golf course lot. Sold it before the paint dried. This one took a little longer to build because the golf was really good that year.

Worst experience: The seller decided not to show for the closing. It left me homeless for a couple of months until I could locate another property. It all turned out for the best because I got a job offer in the Woodbridge area.

Age: 51

Family: Married; a son, 5

Charity: Children’s Miracle Network. I give a little with each home I sell.

Last book read: “The Prince,” by Niccolo Machiavelli

Last movie seen: “Over the Hedge”

What kind of car do you drive: Chrysler Concorde Lxi

What is your personal dream house? My dream home is one with the mortgage paid off.
