- The Washington Times - Wednesday, September 20, 2006

Residents of Loudoun and Fairfax counties are among the wealthiest in the nation, with a median household income of $89,890 in Loudoun in 2003 and a median household income of $82,481 in Fairfax County in 2003, compared with the national median household income of $43,318 in 2003, according to U.S. Census Bureau statistics.

Recognizing the riches found in these communities, many builders are developing upscale communities, defined here as homes priced from $900,000 and higher.

In addition to price, these developments usually share a high level of quality in the construction techniques and materials used to build the homes. Other than that, the residences run the gamut from town homes to estate homes on 10 acres and everything in between, in nearly every imaginable style.
