The Rover has never seen Tiger as worked up as he was yesterday when he came into the media center and unleashed on Dubliner Magazine, a publication that linked its readers to a Web site featuring doctored photos of Elin Woods in the nude. Elin did model bathing suits and lingerie during her former career but never did a nude shoot, and Woods was incensed at the obvious Photoshopped pics and the publication’s use of the fakes.

“Don’t let facts get in the way of a good story,” Woods stewed. “It’s very hard to be diplomatic about this when you have so much emotion involved, when my wife is involved like this. … To link her to porn Web sites and such is unacceptable.”

Woods has sued folks over far less egregious uses of his celebrity. And given the libel laws in Ireland, which are far more stringent and plaintiff-friendly than in the United States, the Rover guesses Dubliner Magazine better prepare for a legal onslaught from the Woods’ camp.

The article, which also took dubious potshots at the wives of Jim Furyk, Chad Campbell and David Toms, adds more fire to a team that already was oozing more intensity than any American squad since Kiawah Island (1991).

• On a day when Hurricane Gordon hammered K Club with 40 mph winds and lashing rain, the highlight for the Rover was a time-killing cartoon. You just haven’t lived until you’ve watched an episode of “Dora the Explorer” in Gaelic, a language that sounds like a drunkard amid death throes.
