Washington Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell missed a second consecutive day of practice yesterday because of a left elbow laceration but he will practice today.

Brunell attempted several throws at the end of yesterday’s practice.

Director of sports medicine Bubba Tyer said three stitches were used to close the laceration, which is similar to the injury Brunell sustained with Jacksonville in 2003.

“From his past experience, he was concerned about it and it heightened our concern,” Tyer said. “We’re taking as much precaution as we can.”

Brunell missing several days of practice but starting the game is not unprecedented. Twice last year, he was limited during the week but played against San Francisco and Philadelphia. He has not missed a start because of injury since joining the Redskins in 2004.
