Heading into the final weekend before Maryland’s Tuesday primaries, the two leading Democratic Party candidates for the U.S. Senate each received some significant endorsements.

The National Organization for Women (NOW), a group that says it has 500,000 members, endorsed Kweisi Mfume, past president of the NAACP and the underdog in the race.

Rep. Benjamin L. Cardin was endorsed by a slate of Baltimore city elected officials, including six delegates from the city and one state senator — George W. Della Jr.

The state delegates who endorsed Mr. Cardin are:

-Del. Jill P. Carter

-Del. Samuel I. “Sandy” Rosenberg

-Del. Peter A. Hammen

-Del. Carolyn J. Krysiak

-Del. Brian J. McHale

-Del. Maggie McIntosh.
