Loudoun County’s reputation as one of the fastest- growing counties in the country has now been matched by its

identity as the wealthiest county in the nation.

According to the Census Bureau (www.census.gov), the median household income in Loudoun County in 2005 was $98,483. The average household income in 2006, according to the Loudoun County government (www.loudoun.gov), was $106,919.

This wealth translates into high home values. The single-family home sales price in February was $599,859, according to Metropolitan Regional Information Systems Inc. (www.mris. com).

In the southern part of the county, residential growth has occurred along U.S. 50, expanding west from the Fairfax County border near Chantilly to Middleburg and beyond.

At Tall Cedar Estates, just a handful of homes are still available from Drees Homes Co. About 70 homes have been built in this community on wooded homesites of up to 1 acre.

Toll Bros. Inc. is developing the planned community of South Riding, including the newest neighborhood, South Riding Station, off Route 50.
