Here’s a possibility that hadn’t occurred to me: “Norbit” may persuade Oscar voters that Eddie Murphy’s performance in “Dreamgirls” was just a fluke.

My hunch is that the academy wants to reward Murphy and, hence, overlook his return to form. And it’s only fair. I mean, it’s not like there aren’t a host of other Oscar winners whose laterwork fails to live up to academy standards — including, ahem, Murphy’s “Norbit” costar.
