Last night at Comcast Center:

6 Maryland players to pick up two fouls in the first half. The heavy use of the whistle frustrated coach Gary Williams, who produced his share of histrionics but ultimately earned a technical for a less demonstrative display.

“That’s the first technical foul I’ve had in two years if you don’t count the one I got in Kuwait.”

— Maryland coach Gary Williams, who picked up his first technical foul in 61 games in the first half

During Maryland’s 12-0 spurt to start the second half, the Terps found ways to make slick passes to a cutting D.J. Strawberry for several easy baskets. The most exciting of the bunch came when Mike Jones threaded a pass from well beyond the 3-point line and Strawberry, coming in from the left wing, deposited a one-handed slam to make it 37-31.
