• We couldn’t end the season without one last Tom Cruise update. Cruise and wife Katie Holmes reportedly were in Miami and scheduled to attend the party of Redskins owner Dan Snyder on Thursday night at the former Versace Mansion. Funny thing: The Danny must have forgotten to invite the contingent from The Washington Times.

• Seen at Jerry’s Famous Deli late yesterday morning: Vince Papale, the former Philadelphia Eagles special teamer who inspired last year’s “Invincible” movie. We’re still trying to figure out why Jerry’s is famous, unless it’s for bad service, bad/cold food, inflated prices and building the customary 15-percent gratuity into the check.

• Miami knows how to play host to a Super Bowl party, but it doesn’t know how to handle a Super Bowl traffic jam. It took two hours to reach the stadium from Miami Beach. Police were too busy escorting fan buses and SUVs undoubtedly bearing important people to help with the real traffic. Fans just gave up about two miles from the stadium, leaving their buses and cabs and walking on the freeway to the stadium.

• Patriots and Saints jerseys were scattered around Dolphin Stadium in the hours leading up to the game. The reason, we’re guessing: When the Patriots and Saints reached the conference title games, fans hopped online to book flights, reserve hotel rooms and purchase marked-up tickets because they were convinced their teams would reach the Super Bowl.
