Land for building a custom home can be difficult to find in Fairfax County, but it is even more rare to find a

5-acre lot with a stream, parkland and horse trails crossing the land.

At 2128 Polo Pointe Drive in Vienna, this homesite and its custom home are now on the market for $3,895,000.

Polo Pointe Drive, off Lawyers Road near Hunter Mill Road and Reston, is home to some of this area’s most impressive residences, each with distinctive architecture, spacious interiors and a landscaped garden.

Good Star Homes is building a residence to fit into this elegant neighborhood and yet allowing the buyers to customize some of the spaces to match their taste.

The home includes varied rooflines, four sides of stone and Hardiplank siding, with multiple arched, round and mullioned windows. The two, two-car garages have wood doors. A flagstone path leads to the flagstone front stoop and to the mahogany front door, which has glass accents.

The builder is including 5-inch wide white or red oak hardwood flooring throughout the first floor, except for the foyer, which has cream-colored marble flooring with a black border.

Both the first-floor laundry room and the upstairs master bath also have marble flooring. Buyers can choose granite or marble for the bathroom vanity tops, and choose the granite tiles for the walls of the master bath. Recessed lighting and upgraded lighting fixtures will be installed.

The home will be built with multiple zones for heating and air conditioning, along with wiring for a security system and wiring for a speaker system. Telephone and computer hookups will also be put in place.

The home includes a dramatic two-story foyer with a Palladian window and a staircase to the upper level. The formal living room has double doors that open into a sunroom with walls of windows. A two-sided gas fireplace with a marble surround warms the living room and sunroom.

On the opposite side of the foyer is the formal dining room, which has an adjacent butler’s pantry.

Double doors lead from the central hall to the corner library, a generously proportioned room with two walls of windows. Next to the library is the two-story family room, an octagonal-shaped room with columns and a masonry fireplace including a stone mantel and a stone hearth.

Near the family room are a formal powder room and a rear staircase to the upper and lower levels. The center-island kitchen has cherry cabinets with a stainless steel Sub-Zero refrigerator, a Thermador range, three Bosch dishwashers, and a Thermador combination microwave and oven appliance with a total of three ovens in addition to the microwave. Buyers can choose the color of granite for the kitchen counters.

Adjacent to the kitchen are a breakfast area and a hexagonal morning room. Nearby are a walk-in pantry, a mudroom with a second powder room, and a laundry room with maple cabinets. The two garages have entrances into the mudroom.

Upstairs, a central gallery overlooks the two-story foyer and the two-story family room. Double doors lead off the gallery to the expansive master suite, which begins with a sitting room. Columns frame the entrance from the sitting room into the bedroom, which has a tray ceiling.

Two walk-in closets flank the entrance to the luxurious master bath, which has his-and-hers vanities in the center of the room, a tub, a glass-enclosed shower and double doors leading into an exercise room with two walls of closets.

Each of the three additional bedrooms has a private full bath and either a walk-in closet or two standard closets.

A separate apartment will be built above one of the garages, accessible from a private staircase. This apartment includes a bedroom, a full bath and a great room with an open kitchen.

The finished lower level has a game room surrounded by windows, a billiards room, a playroom, a full bath, a media room and a large storage/utility room. This level also has a recreation room with a masonry fireplace including a stone mantel and a stone hearth. A wet bar with a stainless steel Bosch dishwasher, wine cooler, a refrigerator and a Marvel beer kegerator is part of the recreation room. Buyers can choose the granite counters for the bar.

A hexagonal-shaped bedroom with a walk-in closet and a full bath completes this level.
