Vacation home buyers enjoy the relaxation of knowing they always have a place to stay in their favorite holiday spot, but they sometimes lament the loss of the pampering that comes with staying at a luxury hotel or resort.

Home buyers at the Residences at River Marsh, a new development on the Eastern Shore by Beazer Homes Corp., can enjoy the benefits of homeownership and still experience the resort lifestyle, since the development is part of the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay property in Dorchester County, Md.

Amenities at River Marsh include a 6,500-square-foot clubhouse with an indoor swimming pool, bike paths and sandy beaches. Within the Hyatt grounds are several waterfront restaurants, a full-service spa, a golf course, a sand volleyball court, tennis courts and a marina.

Just outside River Marsh is the historic and charming city of Cambridge. Oxford and St. Michaels, towns filled with shops, galleries and restaurants, are within an easy drive. The Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is also near the development.

Beazer is building waterfront condominiums, town homes and single family homes at River Marsh. The condominiums are priced from $482,000 and up, with town homes priced from $449,900 and up.

Three models of single-family homes are available at River Marsh, priced from $709,990 to $859,990 for 3,337 to 4,068 finished square feet. Monthly homeowner association fees are estimated to be $400.

Each home has four bedrooms, 3 to 4 baths and a two-car garage. Standard features include Hardiplank siding, professional landscaping with a sodded yard and a brick front stoop.

The homes have 9-foot ceilings on the first and second floors, a tray ceiling in the master bedroom and hardwood flooring in the foyer, kitchen and powder room.

Elegance is added with ceiling medallions in the dining room and foyer, crown and chair-rail moldings and oversized trim on the baseboards and around windows and doors.

Other standard features include a gas fireplace in the family room, a first-floor study, recessed lighting, gas heat and gas hot water. The kitchen includes hardwood flooring, 42-inch oak cabinets, a pantry, a breakfast area, granite counters and GE appliances. The baths have ceramic tile flooring, with a master bath including a tub and separate shower.

Buyers can add an elevator, bay windows, extra fireplaces with stone, brick or marble facing, hardwood flooring, a security system, a whirlpool tub, a central vacuum system and other upgrades.

The Raven model, with 4,068 square feet, is priced from $859,990. This home has a deep covered front porch, a two-story foyer, a tray ceiling in the formal dining room and a covered patio off the formal living room. The study includes a walk-in closet, a coffered ceiling and a door to another covered patio.

The two-story family room includes two walls of windows and columns that separate the room from the hall and breakfast area. This room also has a wet bar and a fireplace. Another long covered patio is just outside the breakfast area and kitchen, which has a walk-in pantry, a center island and an adjacent butler’s pantry.

This level has two staircases to the upper level, a powder room, several closets and a door to the garage, which has an additional space for a golf cart or storage.

Buyers can opt to replace some of the patios with a sunroom or a screened porch or both, replace the pantry with an elevator and add a guest bedroom and full bath in place of the study and powder room.

Upstairs, the master bedroom suite includes a private deck, a sitting room with a wet bar, a tray ceiling and windows on two sides in the bedroom and a walk-in closet. The master bath features a corner tub, a separate shower, two separate vanities and a door to another covered deck that stretches across the front of the home.

The second bedroom has a door to the covered deck, a walk-in closet and private access to a full bath off the hall. The third and fourth bedrooms each have a walk-in closet and share a connecting full bath with two separate vanities. This level also includes a loft overlooking the family room and a laundry room.

Buyers can add a media room in place of the two-story foyer, an additional bedroom in place of the loft and another deck off the back of the upper level.
