Goaltender Olie Kozlig (fourth in the league in saves) and left wing Alexander Semin (seventh in goals) are not among the Eastern Conference reserves for the NHL All-Star game Jan. 26 in Dallas, which were announced yesterday. Rookie defenseman Mike Green was named to the East squad in the NHL YoungStars Game, which takes place Jan. 23 and includes only players on entry-level contracts.

By the numbers

8 Times this season the Caps have allowed a goal on their opponent’s first shot attempt after Florida’s Jay Bouwmeester scored 1:35 into the first period against Olie Kolzig.

Andrew Gordon, the Caps seventh-round pick in the 2004 draft, leads St. Cloud State with 14 goals and is tied for the team lead with 28 points for the Huskies, who are ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Division I poll. Gordon, a junior right wing listed at 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s top offensive player this past week with three goals and an assist in two games.
