Although many already are halfway into breaking their New Year’s resolutions, the Chinese are just beginning to celebrate their new year. The Year of the Pig doesn’t officially begin until Feb.18, but festivities already are taking place worldwide. Today, for instance, New Tang Dynasty Television will host a porcine-oriented party of sorts: a special Chinese New Year dance performance at Borders L Street (18th and L streets Northwest) at 12:30 p.m. Dancer Lan Lan will perform “Lotus Flower” and “Chinese Fan Dance,” offering a rare sneak peak at the TV channel’s upcoming 2007 Chinese New Year Global Spectacular, an event taking place at George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium Jan. 27 and 28. For information about that show, visit www.lisner.org or www.ntdtv-dc.com.) For additional details about today’s event, call 202/466-4999 or visit www.bordersstores.com.
