Prominent arts enthusiasts and philanthropists gathered Monday at the Studio Theatre to hear playwright-performer Anna Deavere Smith speak about the continuing role and impact of artists in building a vibrant cultural scene in Washington. The event, which also included a two-hour “forum for investors in creativity,” was hosted by the Community Foundation of the National Capital Region and the Creative Communities Initiative, which focuses on building a strong support infrastructure for local artists.
