Last night at Verizon Center

QUOTABLE

“We have enough to win the division and we have enough to be good come playoff time.”

— Jordan, assessing his outlook for the season the rest of the way

SEEN AND HEARD

WHILE IDLE MIAMI HAS CLOSED WHAT WAS ONCE A 5-GAME WASHINGTON LEAD IN THE SOUTHEAST DIVISION, A LOT OF OTHER TEAMS JOSTLING FOR POSITION ARE ALSO PLAYING BETTER THAN WASHINGTON.

THE WIZARDS WERE JUST 4-6 IN THEIR LAST 10 GAMES UNTIL LAST NIGHT. THAT’S THE WORST RECORD OF ALL THE TEAMS THAT WOULD BE SEEDED ONE THROUGH SIX IF THE PLAYOFFS STARTED TODAY.

MIAMI HAS BEEN THE BEST, GOING 9-1 OVER THAT SPAN. THE HEAT ARE FOLLOWED BY CLEVELAND (8-2), CHICAGO AND DETROIT (7-3) AND TORONTO (5-5).

“IT’S NOT A CONCERN, NOT A CONCERN,” JORDAN SAID. “YOU HAVE TO EXPECT THEM TO PLAY WELL. THEY’VE GOT ALL-STARS OUT THERE. WE CAN’T HOPE FOR SOMEONE TO PLAY POORLY AND LOSE. WE’VE GOT TO WORK HARD AND PLAY BETTER. THAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE.”
