“Club Night,” artist George Bellows’ dramatic 1907 work depicting two shadowy pugilists engaging in fisticuffs, is one of several works that will be examined during tonight’s Phillips Collection Artful Evening lecture. Through the program, titled “Blood, Sweat and Film — The Art of Boxers,” attendees can learn how the fighting art inspired paintings such as this one — along with dozens of films — and how works of art have bolstered the sport’s popularity.
