A Seat Pleasant man found dead in a car in Morningside early yesterday was the ninth victim of a fatal shooting in seven days in Prince George’s County.

Police found two men at about 3 a.m. suffering from gunshot wounds inside a car in the 4800 block of Allentown Road, Prince George’s police spokeswoman Cpl. Debbi Carlson said.

David Sloley, 24, of Seat Pleasant, was in the passenger’s seat and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was hospitalized and was in critical condition last night.

Police said they think someone in another vehicle drove up beside the car and opened fire near Allentown and Suitland roads.

Police are looking for a small white car that reportedly left the scene at about the time of the shooting, Cpl. Carlson said.

Mr. Sloley was the 36th homicide victim this year in the county, Cpl. Carlson said. The total killings in the county so far this year exceeded the number of killings in the District, which had recorded 34 homicides as of yesterday.
