Bethany Beach, Del., has long enjoyed a reputation as a family-centered community where long days at the beach can be capped by a barbecue with friends or a leisurely stroll to treasure evening breezes. Now Toll Bros. Inc. has added another attraction to the Bethany Beach area: White Creek at Bethany in Millville, a waterfront community of single-family homes.

Clustered in a development adjacent to White Creek and the Indian River Bay, the community includes both waterfront homes and those with water views of the creek, lagoon or one of the neighborhood lakes. Designed to accommodate a family for year-round living, these homes have 2,894 to almost 4,000 finished square feet.

A community shuttle transports White Creek residents to local beaches, but they also can find plenty of recreation on-site as well. White Creek includes a community clubhouse with a kitchen, meeting facilities and fitness center; an outdoor swimming pool; a tennis court; and a sport court. Residents also can enjoy a crab pavilion, a kayak launching area and a tot lot. A proposed dock would allow boaters access to the Atlantic Ocean within a five-minute ride on the water.

The beach-style cottage homes include wraparound porches with metal roof accents. Each home has professional landscaping, with full lawn maintenance provided by the homeowners association.

The homes, which are priced from the mid-$500,000s to the $600,000s, are available with a first- or second-floor master suite plus three secondary bedrooms and three full baths. Standard features include a gas fireplace, high ceilings on the main level, crown and chair-rail moldings, gas heat and a home communications and media wiring package.

The foyer, kitchen and breakfast area, laundry room and all baths have ceramic tile flooring. The master bath includes a tub and separate shower. Each kitchen has 42-inch cabinets and Corian countertops with a ceramic tile backsplash.

Buyers can customize their homes at White Creek with sunrooms, bonus rooms, whirlpool tubs and a choice of exterior styles.

The Chincoteague model, with 3,344 to 3,528 finished square feet, is base-priced from $594,975 to $598,975. This home includes a two-story foyer with a decorative staircase to the upper level. The formal living room and formal dining room are joined by a columned archway, and buyers can add a tray ceiling to the dining room. A first-floor study is located privately off the foyer.

Across the back of the home are a two-story family room with a wall of windows, a fireplace and a rear staircase to the upper level. The center-island kitchen and breakfast area are separated from the family room by a half-wall. Nearby are two closets, a powder room and a laundry room.

Upstairs, the master bedroom suite includes a bath and a walk-in closet. The second and third bedrooms share a hall bath, while the fourth bedroom has a private full bath. The third bedroom has a step-down to an unfinished storage room.
