Doc: Paris distraught

A psychiatrist for Paris Hilton says his famous patient is “emotionally distraught and traumatized” over her upcoming 45-day stay in the pokey and isn’t capable of testifying in a civil lawsuit against her.

According to Associated Press, court papers show that Dr. Charles Sophy has been seeing Miss Hilton, 26, for the past eight months and has talked with her several times since her May 4 hearing for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless-driving case. He says she needs time to recover from the shock of receiving jail time before testifying in a civil case brought against her by actress and diamond heiress Zeta Graff.

“At this point in time, Ms. Hilton cannot effectively respond to examination as a witness or provide any significant input into her defense,” Mr. Sophy said.

In 2005, Miss Graff filed a $10 million lawsuit against Miss Hilton, claiming the reality-TV star spread “vicious lies” about her. Miss Hilton has denied that she was behind a report that claimed Miss Graff once tried to grab a necklace worth $4 million from her throat.

Superior Court Judge Linda K. Lefkowitz postponed the trial to August. It was scheduled to begin this month.

New woes for Lindsay

Hard-partying actress Lindsay Lohan and her mother have been sued by a freelance photographer who claims the “Georgia Rule” star hit him with a car in New York’s West Village.

Photographer Giovanni Arnold claims he “sustained severe and permanent personal injuries” when he was struck by the BMW on March 13. He suffered injuries to both knees and was “still getting medical treatment,” his lawyer, Marc Mauser, said yesterday.

Robert Stephan Cohen, a lawyer for Miss Lohan and her mother, Dina, wasn’t available for comment, AP said.

The complaint claims the Lohans were “negligent, careless and reckless” with the vehicle.

Mr. Arnold reportedly was among several photographers trailing the 20-year-old actress from a nightclub to the Hotel Gansevoort in SoHo.

In March, Miss Lohan reportedly told the New York Post that one of the photographers jumped on the hood of the car, accidentally knocking Mr. Arnold down.

A baby for Drea

Emmy winner Drea de Matteo, who played the ill-fated Adriana La Cerva on HBO’s “The Sopranos,” is pregnant with her first child, AP reports.

The father is her boyfriend, country singer Shooter Jennings, the actress’s publicist said.

Miss De Matteo, 35, ended her “Sopranos” run when her character was killed in the fifth season of the hit mob drama. She also starred on the NBC sitcom “Joey.”
