The United States Botanic Garden (100 Maryland Ave. SW) is currently offering flora-fawning visitors a real steal: the chance to experience a dozen noted botanic gardens in about the same time it takes to eat lunch. “Celebrating America’s Public Gardens: A Sense of Place” — at the summer Terrace through Oct. 8 — showcases diverse and often artful plant-life scenarios from Florida, California, Hawaii and the Midwest. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today; free admission. 202/225-8333. www.usbg.gov.
