For some people, “stepping” isn’t about hopping on and off benches in spandex; instead, it refers to a black dance form with a percussive element that stirs the blood. Curious? The District’s own Step Afrika!, a 13-year-old troupe dedicated to preserving and celebrating the art, is taking over the Atlas Performing Arts Center’s Lang Theatre (1333 H St. NE) tonight through Sunday for its annual hometown performance series. Tonight at 8, the troupe will be joined by another local favorite: the female a cappella group Sweet Honey in the Rock. Call 202/399-7993 or visit. www.atlasarts.org.
