How did you get started in real estate? I was living in London, and my estate agent there told me, “You’d be great at this.” When I returned to the United States a few years later and needed to re-evaluate my life, I remembered what he said. So, I tried it, and he was right. It’s a great fit.

How long with the current company? Since 1992

Licenses and designations: Virginia real estate sales; accredited buyers representative; graduate, Realtor institute

Associations: Northern Virginia Association of Realtors, Virginia Association of Realtors

Awards: Life member, multimillion-dollar sales club; NVAR top producer award; life member, Prudential Real Estate president’s circle; Prudential Real Estate great volunteer award 2007.

Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: Dropping my son off at the College of William and Mary for his freshman year, being happy for me and not sad for me.

What is your area of specialty? Alexandria, South Alexandria, Franconia and Kingstowne

Highest-priced home sold: $2,610,000

Most memorable house: My first one. I helped paint the kitchen to prepare it for showing.

Worst experience: In all these years, only once has a buyer gotten cold feet and not come to settlement. I was the listing agent, so I didn’t have any influence on the buyer to try to calm him down or settle his nerves. So we had to re-market the property and take more time on top of the original days on the market. In the long run, it sold for $10,000 less than it was going to the first time. That was my worst experience, because I felt so badly for the owner.

Age: 45

Family: Married to Kel Britvec; three children: Trevor, 18, Madeline, 14, and Tony, 10

Pets: Kirby, our 10-year-old King Charles spaniel

Education: Bachelor of arts in political science, Albion College in Michigan, 1984

Community affiliations/community service: 12-year board member, Cameron Elementary PTA; PTSA member, Edison High School; chairman, Edison High School all-night grad party; member, Huntington Community Association; member, Burgundy Community Association; member, Lee District Democrats

Last book read: “A Thousand Splendid Suns,” by Khaled Hosseini

Last movie seen: “Underdog”

What kind of car do you drive? 2006 Acura TSX

What is your personal dream house? A home with a main level master suite, and a huge great room, maybe a pool — so my kids will come visit.
