Saturday, 7 p.m.

After donning whites only during the preseason, the Caps finally will break out the new red uniforms against a Hurricanes team that hopes to put a disappointing follow-up to a Stanley Cup championship behind it.


Oct. 18, 7 p.m.

This is the first of several student nights for Thursday and Friday home games at Verizon Center, a promotion that has worked well in other cities and could inject extra life in the hometown crowd.


Oct. 20, 7 p.m.

Sidney Crosby and Co. come to town, and Alex Ovechkin is 1-7 against Sid the Kid. It is a White Out night at Verizon, but doesn’t the road team normally wear white?


April 5, 7 p.m.

Could there be a playoff spot on the line in the final game of the regular season for both improved teams? Attendance on Alex Ovechkin bobblehead night shouldn’t be a problem even if there isn’t.
