Today’s game

WASHINGTON CAPITALS AT NEW YORK ISLANDERS

When: 2 p.m.

Where: Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, N.Y.

TV/radio: CSN, AM-1500, FM-107.7

Goalies: Capitals — Olie Kolzig (1-0-0, 0.00). Islanders — Rick DiPietro (2-0-0, 3.00)

Injuries: Capitals — Out: RW Alexander Semin (ankle), D Steve Eminger (ankle), RW Eric Fehr (back/hip). Islanders — Out: C Shawn Bates (abdomen). Questionable: LW Jon Sim (knee).

Notes: Semin did not make the trip and will miss his second game with a sprained ankle. He played for 2:59 in the third period against Carolina on Saturday night and did not return in the second half of the period. Preseason pundits panned the Islanders, who last year qualified for the playoffs on the season’s final day, because of their mass exodus of talent during the offseason. Tom Poti and Viktor Kozlov joined the Caps, while Jason Blake and Ryan Smyth also left town and Alexei Yashin received a $17.6 million contract buyout. But Ted Nolan’s team is also off to an impressive 2-0 start by sweeping a home-and-home with Buffalo. Free agent addition Mike Comrie is tied for the NHL lead with four goals and six points.
